Asian American Looks at the 2019 Met Gala

It is that time of the year again when celebrities gather in New York City for the Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball. We obviously did not take any of these pictures, we are neither a) talented enough to take these pictures nor have we b) built any kind of credit to be able to actually attend an event like the Met Ball...or really anything below the Met Ball either. What kind of cred do you even have to build? Like star in a major production? We are still trying to marry rich, so we are working on it.

We are mere humble messengers here to report the amazing looks that our Asian American friends were serving at this year's Met Gala. Please note that we are in no shape or form fashion experts; in fact, we can barely dress ourselves. All we can offer are some pictures and supportive, sometimes snide comments. Don't expect too much - enjoy!

First Up: Mrs. PRIYANKA CHOPRA Jonas

We love this, we love the crown, the dress and the multi-color feathers at the bottom. This photo of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas embodies their image well. Priyanka is bright and beautiful and Nick Jonas is...well, he is there.

Next Up: The Dazzling Constance Wu

Constance Wu showed up to the Met Gala in a classic semi-flapper looking dress. Look at her and her worldly amazingness. The dress looks mostly sheer with intricate beading which she paired with a bold, dark-red lipstick. Wow, can you tell how hard we are trying to speak fashion?

Drumroll for the Next Queen: Actress/Writer/Mother/Producer Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling is serving looks in head to toe gold: gold dress, gold heels, gold ring and strawberry blonde hair? Her look is as bright as her future. We only wish that she had baby Katherine Kaling with her.

Up Next: The Woman Who Will Save Us All - Yara Shahidi

Actress and activist Yara Shahidi showed up to the Met Ball in a jump-suit like outfit with a big black-feathered shawl. But of course, nothing shines quite as bright as her smile in the close-up photos.

Following the Youth Train: the Dazzling Lana Condor

YES GIRL, YES. Wow, wow, wow. Lana Condor looks absolutely stunning in a light-pink (blush maybe?) all tulle dress. Her hair is in a messy bun at the top and she almost reminds us of a cupcake. She looks absolutely stunning!

Next In Line: Her Holiness - Gemma Chan

We would like to thank the casting directors of Crazy Rich Asians for bringing Gemma Chan into our lives, because wow. Gemma Chan is always the picture of style and royalty and she did not pull any punches for this year's Met Gala.

Also, shout-out to Aneena for highlighting Gemma Chan's rainbow detail on her fingers - truly an icon.

Baby's First Met Gala: Our Fave Young Couple - Camila Mendes and Charles Melton

Ah, young love. What we wouldn't give to be young, beautiful, rich, famous and utterly in love. And to know how this season of Riverdale ends. Camila and Charles look absolutely charming as they attended their first Met gala together.

Met Gala Veteran: Alexa Chung

Writer/Designer/Model Alexa Chung showed up in a floral dress with gold fringe at the ends. Simple, but gorgeous all the same!

Can't Forget: Mr. Henry Golding

Honestly, we have no idea how to describe what Henry is wearing except to say that it is a glittering suit with a purple and blue ombre. But who care, he looks fabulous. And we all saw Crazy Rich Asians, we know the abs that are under the suit.

Another Hollywood Leading Man: Darren Criss

Darren Criss showed up in a colorful - yet also not colorful - ensemble to this year's Met Gala. He rocked some blue eye shadow to match his blue nails and blue swirls on his gold and black jacket.  Underneath the jacket, he wore an all-black outfit which he paired with a large bow. Honestly, can you hear us grasping at fashion straws?

Alright friends, so the theme of the 2019 Met Gala is: Camp. I don't quite know if and how any of these outfits relate to the theme but that is okay, everyone looks amazing anyway. We hope you enjoyed this sub-par review of the Asian American looks being served at the 2019 Met Gala. Again, we took literally none of these photos!

Did we miss anyone? Honestly, we probably did. Which outfit was your favorite? Let us know!
